I think Morgan Thomas will have something to say about it... my great aunt tried to get her granddaughter to just call her Grandma like everyone else, and her granddaughter came up with Goona. I don't know why, but she's like, 12 now and she still calls her Goona. Kids will come up with their own names... oh, and another one of my cousins calls his grandparents Paw and Sis... no clue where he came up with those. He also doesn't call his parents Mom and Dad, he calls them by their first names, ever since he could talk he says their first names just sound better...

When I was younger, me and my brother would refer to our grandparents by the name of their cat. Their cats name was Mitzi so they were Grandma and Grandpa Mitzi.
It's a little weird I guess... but for a young kid, it's cute. So if you have a pet, that could be an option.

36? holy cow...
well you're probably either gonna be called grandma or be called by your first name

my boyfriend's grandmother won't be called grandma either so everyone calls her mum

My husbands nieces call his parents Nanny & Bampy. I don't know why, I think it's a Maritimes/New England/East Coast thing. I've also heard Grampa referred to as Grampy.

There's also Nana & Papa or Nonny & Poppy or Oma & Opa.

I dated a guy who's mother refused to answer to grandma she only wanted her grand kids to call her Mimi and her husband Papa. My son calls my mother Nana and that is what I call my grandmother.

I know it can be depressing to become grandparents but you have to except it, you are grandparents.

I always called my paternal grandparents Gram and Gramps and my maternal grandparents Grandma (insert her name) and Grandpa (insert his name). You could always go with Ma and Pa/Pop, or have the child call you by your first names. Congratulations on your first grandson, good luck!

Well, my first niece decided my parents were going to be Nana and Papa. My son decided that my husband's father is going to be Ampa. My husband's step father is Poppy. His mother is Menah. I think you are going to be called whatever the little guy can pronounce.
