The Sanctuary is in Paradise Valley, and offers privacy, but is close to major shopping, restaurants, etc. The Four Seasons is in north Scottsdale. It's further from shopping, etc., but is ia a gorgeous desert location. The Phoenician & Biltmore are in Phoenix, but like the Sanctuary, are close to lots of activities. The Princess, Westin Kierland, Marriot Desert Ridge are large hotel complexes, and draw alot of conventions & families. Much more *buzz* factor. Depends on what you are looking for. If it's quiet, relaxing, pampering...then go for The Sanctuary or The Four Seasons. Enjoy!

Oh...the whole Phoenix area is a plethora of wonderful resorts! My favorite, though, is the Marriott Desert Ridge - gorgeous, huge, and has an on-site Starbucks...

Other very nice resorts:
Hyatt in Gainey Ranch is great;
Pointe South Mountain in Chandler is very nice, has a water park on the property
Legacy Golf resort has the most gorgeous rooms of all (though the beds are a little hard for my taste, the rest of the amenities more than make up for that!)

Have fun!

In Scottsdale there are several amazing resorts....the princess, Hyatt Gainey Ranch, The Boulders, the royal palms....but my favorite is the Sanctuary on Camelback mountain....when the celebs are in town they typical stay here as it is secluded up on Camelback Mountain, has amazing views, and you get your own suite or casita.
