I've been to both twice. It really does depend on what your interests are. If you want to relax and have lazy warm days in the sun the Hawaii is for you. If you want exciting night life, museums, shopping, theater, etc. then New York is for you. It's all about your preference, think about what you'd like to do, then do some research and decide from that.

I think I would pick Hawaii.
I haven't been to either though, so I can't really tell you why. =P
