Which animals are found at a specific zoo are determined by a lot of factors, such as space constraints, availability of certain animals, and expertise and capacity of the staff.

Many zoos have exhibits based either around geography or around the type of animal. For example, a zoo might have an African rainforest exhibit with mixed species found there such as crocodiles, fruit bats, and colobus monkeys. Or it might have a reptile house that has different species of lizards, snakes, turtles, and crocodilians.
