I used to get real chapped lips. What I did was I mixed a teaspoon of Oilve Oil with a little sugar and I lightly rubbed it on my lips. After I was done I applied a little chapstick.
The Oilve Oil really works though, it makes my lips very silky. It sounds strange but it works. I do it every so often.

Caramex is the greatest thing ever. Comes in a yellow tube or round tub, usually with a red lid.

My lips used to get really chapped and cracked, but this stuff always works wonders. Especially if I put it on before bed.

Ok this might sound weird but u should try using lard. My friend had really chapped lips and she tried the lard and it worked wonders. And also never put on chap stick before sleep because it just dries up on your lips. Hope this helps..

Burts Bees Bees Wax(it comes in a yellow stick). My lips used to peel and get really chapped when you put on the chapstick it burns your lips sort of like a peperminty tingly effect...its by far the BEST chapstick ever!

As well as all the brilliant advice you've been given to cure the symptom of chapped lips, can I just give some advice regarding curing the actual cause of the chaffing................... This is one of the symptoms of a deficiency in vitamin B2 (Riboflavin).

Increase your intake of vitamin B2 rich foods and you will see a marked difference fairly quickly. i.e.: milk, liver, kidney, cheese, leafy green vegies, fish, eggs, yoghurt, peas, beans and lentils.

Like the other B vitamins it is not stored and must be replaced regularly through whole foods or supplements.

Go to the chemist and get yourself a good quality multivitamin B complex supplement (containing all the B vitamins as they work best together). Just ask the pharmacist to advise you on which brand is a good quality one to buy. Avoid synthetic vitamins, very hard to digest.

The recommended daily allowance for adults is 1.2 - 1.7mg. You need to increase this amount when under stress. America's most common vitamin deficiency is riboflavin !! By including adequate B2 in your diet you will have healthy skin, nails and hair. B2 will also help eliminate sore mouth, lips and tongue and benefit vision and alleviate eye fatigue.

Other symptoms of B2 deficiency are sandy and grainy feeling eyes and split and cracking skin around you finger nails ???

PEACE

Products like Vaseline (petroleum jelly) and carmex work well. Chapstick is a good temporary fix. My favorite right now is Neosporin's Lip Therapy. It's perfect for use during the day, but I would follow up with the Vaseline at night. Make sure you drink lots of water during the daytime and don't lick your lips...that'll dry them out quickly.

Prue...I agree the best thing I have ever used on my lips....PJ or in other terms..Vaseline...You can get the little tubs quite cheap in the trial size section of some strores...plus it also doubles as a nice gloss...Sometimes the camphor and menthol in some of the products for "chapped lips" do more harm than good.

You can try exfoliating your lips with facial scrub, like St. Ives but it can really be any, then immediately after drying them, put on Vaseline. It may sound weird but it works well. I get such chapped lips sometimes too.

Ok, some of the Chapstick™ stuff works, but Blistex™ is the BEST! It comes in a blue container and sometimes in Chapstick forms, and you just apply it to dry lips and it might sting or burn for a while, but that's how you know it's working! And then feel free to apply Lip Gloss, etc. I hope this helped! [[ It's like $5 ]]

Petroleum jelly works great! or even Aloe creams for lips or medical soft lips. They are all not so pricey and they are not so hard to find. Go to the nearest local drug store and asking pharmacist is a good idea too!

Good luck and take care!
