Tampon for during the day, or when you want to go to the pool or beach.
Pads for the night because you don't want a tampon in for longer than 4-5 hrs... that's what i do. But make sure you buy the big ones because nothing sucks more than waking up and seeing you leaked on your undies and sheets.
Also, skip that nasty carton applicator... invest in the Tampax Pearl Tampons, or any tampon with plastic applicator. And of course, buy wet wipes, it will keep you clean when a shower isn't an option.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF PADS:
Panty Liner - Designed to absorb daily vaginal discharge, light menstrual flow, "spotting", slight urinary incontinence , or as a backup for tampon use.
Ultra-thin - A very compact (thin) pad, which may be as absorbent as a Regular or Maxi/Super pad but with less bulk.
Regular - A middle range absorbency pad.
Maxi / Super - A larger absorbency pad, useful for the start of the menstrual cycle when menstruation is often heaviest.
Night - A longer pad to allow for more protection while the wearer is lying down, with an absorbency suitable for overnight use.

cotton tampons are best pads u can use at home to let your body flow proper.. some use both as they flow a lot.. Ob's are good tampons they fluff out not get long and make u feel stiff in there.. they protect better stayfree pads are thin thin and discreet and hold a lot.. the tampons have instructions.. put a little vaseline on the tips of them so they go in smoothly.. for u a beginner then use plastic pearl applicators by tampax. then u can go to the kotex ones on a stick when u know ur - canal. u stand and pout one leg up onto a stpe ot toilet and insert it up the string wil be left out to pull out every 3 hrs./ dont forget its in there. pads at shcool or work are horrible u can use both tho.. together.2nd days is worst flow so use a super .. if u can .. 3rd use a super 4rth use a regualr 5th use a light day one 6th day use a pad liner alone.. if ur a 4 dayer then 2nd dayer is heaviest..

Well it depends on what is more comfortable.
Some people prefer pads because it is easier and they are actually affraid that tampons hurt.
Which they don't unless you put it in wrong.
I personally think tampons are better because they can last longer and you are able to go swimming and it is easier for running and all that. I am more of a sporty person and a busy one so I don't have the time to worry about pads.
And the type of pad you need depends on how heavy your blood flow is.
If it is heavy you'll need a thicker pad.
I think that about covers it.

Tampons you can get them regular, super or super absorbant. and It depends on which one you choose because if you are a heavy bleeder I would go with the super absorbant until it gets light and then go to regular. Pads are about the same. but I would check the package. when you get a box of tampons their should be instructions on the box. You have to choose which is easier for you and better for you. good luck.

i use tampax for my tampons and always for my pads. you can look at the box or pack and it will tell you the right pad for the right flow. and get your mom or grandma or aunt or even a friend or friends mom to help you pick them out and show you where to put them and all that.
