My city is building new condos and a lot of white people are moving in. it's good that the city is been repaired HOWEVER,I don't think it would be FAIR to push all of us OUT! I like a diverse mixed city than a all-white one!

they are been pushing out by people raising the rent high. for a example, before genitrification,a apartment would be about 900 a month. when whites move in, it's now 3000 a month.

It's called Gentrification. The idea is to not to push out minorities, but to move in upwardly mobile 'classier' richer people. (For instance look at Manhattan, A LOT of working middle class families have had to move elsewhere to find a cheaper rent) So there will still be minorities in the area, they just won't be like the ones there now. A bigger question should be not if y'all will stay, but where will you go? That's the question that gentrification never really explores.

It's happening where I live also. I think that the city is trying to move the wealthy back into the city for economic reasons, and a lot of them are moving back to the city since most of them already work in the city.

i learned in my housing studies classes that white people were moving OUT of the cities into suburbs, leaving dilapidated cities to the minorities... i guess it wouldn't surprise me that some would move back if it were fixed up.

were the condos on vacant lots, or did they replace low-income housing or 'projects'? how exactly are the minorities being pushed out? (just curious)

i agree, diversity is better.

Maybe they spent alot of money renovating the area, and they dont want it tore up and run down by minorities, they probably raised the rent to pay some of the costs to try to better the community

I'm sure they won't push you to far out of the city because they surely don't want ya in the burbs. I'm not trying to be an azzhole, but its true (white flight).

Keep up or get out, I am happy to see the gentrfication of Atlanta. Doesn't everyone want lower crime and a nicer place to live? It has nothing to do with race.

its by percentages and money too-case in point urban renewal can use its money to buy out a white area and turn it basically all black-in some cities they go they other way too-and the answer to it all is Jesus

when you have Jesus in your heart its not color -its believers and unbelivers

I am glad I prayed and let Jesus into my heart to forgive my sins and become my best friend, and save me. amen

I am born Jewish and my area turned all black and my first church is all black-its cool.
