The lights went out a lot. But I will take your reference to who was "involved" to mean you are talking about 20 years ago when Team Canada had a bench clearing brawl with the USSR. Canada was winning but both were disqualified. They turned out the lights. The match was in Czechoslovakia, now split into several countries. As I recall, the lights went out in Boston Garden during Game Four of the Stanley Cup Finals game between the Bruins and the Oilers in 1988. The game had to be replayed in its entirety at the back end of the series. However, that wasn't necessary as the Oilers won pretty quickly.

During the 1987 Canada vs USSR World Juniors brawl. They turned out the lights to try and stop the fighting.

ok im going with the world junior tournament canada vs russia both teams got ejected from the tourny federov molgilny bure where part of it for the russians the year 1987-88 it was in russia
