How much have you actually heard rap? I know that alot of the songs have bad messages, but not ALL of them. I'd imagine that there are tons of people that despise rap but have never heard it.

Well I can't say that I HATE rap. But I will say that there are not many positive rappers in the world today. Now in the 80's and early 90's things were cool but today what sells is drugs, cars, money and pimin' whores. I feel what you're saying and it may seem weirds coming from a black man but it's just crap what they have going on today. I don't even listen to the radio because of the so called rap today is garbage. Trust me, for those of you that haven't ever heard it you're not missing anything. If you really want to hear positive messages or anything different from today's music you have to go back in time.

I am a huge fan of late 70's - early 80's rock (new wave mainly) but there are some great rock groups who incorporate rap in their lyrics and sound FANTASTIC doing it! Examples: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, Cypress Hill, Insane Clown Posse (way too many to mention)! So all the extreme rap haters really need to think twice and be a little more diverse and open-minded!

It just does nothing for me. I have listened to many different kinds of rap from different artists, languages, messages, and styles. I have even done research to see if I could find some that I do like.
None of them move me the way other music does.
To each their own. Other people like it and that's cool.

Check out a bit of my research. I honestly don't know if this is good or bad, but it's interesting to see how other countries make their own American-style music.

It is too hard to listen to, let alone understand what they are saying. I have listened to it as well, it all sounds the same. I do not understand how people think that it is music. Another thing I would say most rap songs DO send a bad message.

I don't HATE rap, i just don't listen to it.

It's very abrasive and agressive, and most of the time i'm not in the mood to listen to it. So i don't. But if you like rap, i don't insult your tastes, because i know everyone likes different stuff. However, i like country sometimes, and you wouldn't BELIEVE the grief i get over that.

Its not about the messages, rock has alot of them too.
I just find the constant NEED for rhyming and monotonous beats annoying.

Its a personal preference. Lots of people hate country, or metal, or pop etc.

There is some good stuff out there, but too much of it is generic. I'm from California, I've been around it my whole life, and too much of it is stale and un-original.

it is mostly giving out, stupid , bad, and wrong messages, but if there is a good song, i'll listen to it, and i also don't like the style. sometimes it's good though!
i prefer rock!
