Pete Rose is just scum in general. He feels the need to open his mouth so the public remembers him.
Remember - he is a liar and a cheat. If you say Bonds does not belong in the hall for being a liar or a cheat, you must say no to Rose.

No, other players and mangers have done worse, but have never been caught doing this kinda stuff. You think a Billionaire isn't going to bet another buddy that his team is going to win or players have there own personal bets going on?? What player doing 'riods and other drug use that was everywhere during the 70's and 80's?? That really is scum cause it is affecting the game on the field giving their team a unfair advantage. Pete just bet money!!!! OOOOO lets kill him. Give me a break!!!

Is he scum? Who is to say? Are there worse things in life? yes. Pete Rose bet on baseball, that is the cardinal sin in baseball. If caught, you are placed on the in-eligible list. Does his punishment fit the crime? Absolutely.
He has stated he only bet on is own team to win, only he and his bookie really know. And since he was a gambler with a stake in his own game, other gamblers would see how he bet, and bet accordingly. Some of the ramifications we'll never know, so in my opinion, he should be barred for life.

The Pete Rose issue is older than dirt. Every time he opens his mouth he just falls deeper and deeper in his own crap. Forget the hall of fame, Forget reinstatement. It will never happen. He threw it all away when he decided to gamble. He knew is was the mortal sin of baseball but he did it just the same. Please, no more about Pete Rose.

Betting for your team to win should only motivate you to do better. What is the big deal? What Pete Rose did is nothing compared to the beefed up cheaters of todays game.

He had an addiction to betting..Now days they would give him a fine and get over it ,which is what should have been done to him..Now days you have players using steroids, getting all doped up and even the occasional wife beaters and they still get all the rights they took away from Pete.

When you are a manager and you bet, you are scum. For all his wonderful talents, Rose's gambling will keep him from the Hall forever. If you are actively engaged in the game, YOU DO NOT GAMBLE. EVERY PLAYER AND MANAGER KNOWS THIS. This is the rule that cannot be breeched. Rose has lied about this time and again. Very sad.

Yes he is; and I don't believe anything he says. He bet on the Reds sometimes to win and to lose. Defend him now.

If we ever find out he threw games, he should be banned from baseball, but they should not ban him from the HOF. I don't believe he threw games as a player, and it wouldn't make sense if he threw games as a manager. He had an above .500 record as a manager. If he was throwing games the Reds would have been alot worse. I think his competiitive spirit ,and passion for the game should cast away any doubts he threw games to win bets.

It just showed the amount of confidence he had in his team. He was willing to go into debt for what he called the greatest organization in baseball. If I had a manager that told us we were going to win, and then bet on us to do it, I'd have respect for him.
