I am getting anxious to begin buying baby stuff, but I am only 14 weeks pregnant. Where do I start? What kinds of things are reasonable for me to start buying right now? I don't want to wait and buy things all at once.

Its always fun to start buying baby stuff!! and buying a little at a time really helps!! Since your 14 weeks and im guessing you probably dont know the sex yet! You can start by buying bottles, pacifiers, lil socks. I put all the big stuff like swings, playpens, strollers.. etc on baby registries!! Baby Regestries are a savior!! Make one at any store you can think of like Babies R Us, Wal- Mart, Target, JcPenny... and Babies R Us has an online check list of things for a parent to buy their newborn. That was a great help for me!!!

The main 2 things to buy are a car seat, and a bassinet (or crib).

I waited until 20 weeks before I bought anything.

Make sure you've got your maternity wardrobe first.

My advice: don't buy any baby things until you're somewhere around 20 weeks. That's the halfway mark, and you might know what you're having by then so you can plan a little better. As you get farther along, you'll also have a baby shower so start researching cribs, strollers, car seats, etc. now so you have a good idea of what you want. Then don't buy them... let those who come to your shower get those items for you. Babies are expensive enough. Save as much money as you can for diapers!

Anything at all baby-related that is:

(1) top-notch quality, and
(2) second-hand or very, very on sale

If you have the time and inclination, you can get really lovely stuff _very_ cheaply. It does take a lot of poking around junk in 2nd-hand/consignment/etc stores, but it is out there.

Especially books. You can never have too many books.

If this is your first pregnancy you will probably have a baby shower and get alot of the things! When you get further along register at a baby registry of things that you want or need. People will buy you things from that registry.

Nuetral blankets, onesies, socks, jammies, Nuetral things. Same with the basic furniture. Do not by bottles yet, some babies are very particular about what kind they use.

Do not buy any baby clothes in newborn and 0-3 month sizes. I had my baby shower and got tons of onesies and sleep and plays in that size range.People will buy them because they are so cute . Unfortunately, I already purchased tons of them myself. I can not return any of the stuff, because people did not give me receipts, and I took the tags and washed everything that I purchased myself. I should have waited !!!!
