So I'm 13 and I missed my period this month (I should've gotten it like 3 weeks ago). I didn't have sex with anyone so I'm not pregnant ... but is it normal to have a missed period ? What is a missed period a sign of (other than pregnancy)???

If you're sure you're not pregnant, I wouldn't worry very much. You're young, and chances are you haven't had your period for very long, so it could still just be naturally irregular. Menstruation takes a while to become regular when you first start. Also, a change in diet or stress could also affect your cycle. If you don't get it next month though, you might want to see your doctor.

I am not a doctor but from personal experience and the experience that I have gleaned from raising a daughter you really have nothing to worry about. You are pretty young and your body at your age is still going through a lot of growing and hormonal changes.
It's normal that at 13 your periods will be not be consistently regular until you get a little older when at that time your hormones stabilize better, so skipping a period is not that uncommon for a 13-year-old. The time will probably come when your menses appear like clockwork at the same time every month.
Missed periods can also be caused by diet deficiencies or other disorders, so make sure that you are eating a proper diet because that is very important when you are still growing.
I would say that if there is something else going on with you healthwise, other than the missed periods, that concerns you then you should definitely seek a physician's advice.
Hope this helps.

You're still very young and it takes a long while for your period to settle down. I'm 22 and a lot of friends my age (who aren't sexually active) still have irregular periods. Your body needs time to adjust to all the hormonal changes that have been going on and that will happen in the next few years, so if you know for definite you're not pregnant, then I wouldn't worry.

It's good to ask these questions though, many teens do not ask such questions and haven't a clue about puberty, periods or sex and that's how they end up with STDs and pregnant!

It really depends on your situation. If you recently started your period, you'll need to give it a couple of years before it starts to come like clockwork. Also, consider your weight and general health. Very overweight or underweight people (or extremely active people like athletes) can have missed periods which is normal. Not to say that being over or underweight is normal, though. You can also skip because of stress.

I wouldn't worry too much about it at your age, but if it happens next month, you might want to see a doctor just to double-check.

oh child. That can be one of the scariest things in the world at your age. Periods can be missed for a number of reasons.
-Pregnancy (which I know you said you should not have reason to suspect)
-normal growing (how long have you been getting your period, long enough to know your cycle?)
-body weight change (many women experience cyclic problems when their body changes dramatically)
-other's nearby overridding your cycle (it has been noted that many women somehow adopt another woman's cycle, when the other person is a dominant female)
-ovarian difficulties (which can number a lot of different answers)

If you are genuinely worried deffinitely convince your parents to schedule you a gynocologist appointment. It maybe be something simple, or serious. One will never know unless they get an educatedopinion.

I once had a friend who was going through a falling uterus. I am a typical woman but was suffering my period every two weeks because of the pheremones my friend was giving off due to her medical condition.

If you are out of sync with your schedule, please do not hesitate to seek assistance to understand why.

Yes it is normal to miss a period here and there at your age.
It can take up to 2 years for a girl's cycles to settle into a regular rhythm.
If your are exercising excessively, like training for the national team, or have an eating disorder you'll miss them as well.

Not to worry. You are very young. It may take years before your period becomes more predictable.

It is so normal. Your period is not regular yet, and probably won't be for a while. Don't worry...IT will come back.
