Depending on the level of intricacy, You can use just about anything from clay for organelles, to making a dialysis tubing shell to recreate a semipermeable membrane. Sponges can be used to recreate contractile vacuoles, etc. More specifics would be nice.

I used a cake once. Make a cake in a bunt pan, and turn it upside down so that the flat side is on top. Then I used white icing with food coloring in it to color the cell. Then i used different candies to represent the different organelles. Hope this helps :)!!

u can buy styrophone balls or something. ( Like $7 can find it in a Art store)
