I have a door that catches on one spot on the carpet. I can't change the door, according to my landlord, but can I flatten the carpet somehow?

if it is a cut pile carpet you could "shear" the tops of the carpet where it is binding. any carpet layer would have a tool for this. they use them for blending seams and "scupturing".

just blend it in so it doesn't stand out to bad.

is it stretched pretty tight? you could remove the padding under the carpet but i think the landlord wouldnt like that either. if its a wooden door why not just have someone trim off the bottom of the door

just take the door off and cut about 1/4" off that should take care of the problem the carpet is flat it's the door that is dragging on the carpet because it's to low or the carpet to thick just cut the door

if the carpet is not flat on the floor .and can be pushed down .try glueing under that spot and putting something heavy on top of it until the glue bonds the carpet to the floor.

You could shave down the bottom of the door
with a saw giving it more of a gap at the bottom.
