As someone that was bitten by a Black Widow spider at the age of 8. Who was hospitalized because she couldn't walk and had to have anti-venom to save her life. I totally understand where you're coming from.
Yes you can major in biology and be very successful at it too.
When I took biology in college I took Biology41. It wasn't about spiders or frogs. It was all about plants. The only thing I had to dissect was a hibiscus plant. When the professor stated that would be the only thing I smiled, I was young and naive.
I think this would be something that you should talk to a counselor about. I think they could set up your classes to work around your fears.
Good Luck.

OH MY GOD I know what you're going through, I'm also an arachnophobic, one time my cousin put a dead spider on my head and i started freaking out so much i lost it and broke down. It wasn't even that big too. anyway I would get some bug spray and spray the corners and under the doors. or windows if you have them open. If they're coming from under your door roll up a towel and put it on the bottom to cover the crack.. If it's really that band sleep somewhere else!

It depends on what branch of biology you wish to pursue. If you wish to pursue Microbiology then no, your fear of spiders shouldn't be a problem.
Marine Biology on the other hand might be somewhat of an issue if you decide to go that way. Who knows what you'll run into.
Im sure there is plenty of room in laboratories for someone with arachnophobia.

Yes, as a matter of fact, most colleges don't let you get your degree untill you pass the final test...
You're locked in a basement with 500 tarantulas and a can of raid.

You want to be a biologist, not an entomologist. The former studies life forms, the latter bugs. You're safe.
