I just need new ideas. Throw out some things I should represent, some societal issues to look into through the magic of paint, or just something that might make a pretty picture.

Thanks!

Ok this just came to me. For some reason the social issue of abortion has really been bothering me. I am against it and I had one. It would be neat to see a painting of a seed and the three different affects of it if it is ripped from the ground befor it is given a chance to grow, if it blooms and stays where it was planted, or if it is repotted and given to someone else. Maybe I am being a little wierd but I really think an image where the flower/seed can be used as a metaphor for a human life would be inspiring. Beautifull and meaning full good luck.

Open a dictionary or mag, close your eyes and blindly lay your finger down. Whatever word you point to is what you must paint whether it's a noun, verb, adverb or adjective.....or slang, ie....
flower/paint flower, run/paint someone running, decisive/paint someone thinking, odd/paint something weird, etc............
Even words like "to and from" you can form a visual picture like a "present"; "and" can be turned around becoming dna, "with" can be witch by adding a "c", and so on. Surprising how after awhile everything starts to 'associate' becoming sensible and logical - then you can start adding actual text to your drawings or paintings.

Firstly, I am jealous of your ability...damn you talented people !!!

Some of the most engaging pictures I have seen are of eyes...especially close up charcoal or black and whites of elderley people.

Perhaps an older persons eyes with a small but significant scene from their life in the pupil...??? If you find a neighbour or older subject with a good story, it could really add to the piece.

Good luck.

*Paint something wild on a wooden or an upholstered chair.

*Paint a self-portrait with everything you love in the background.

*Paint an abstract-type painting of your fears using the colors that really speak to you.

*Copy a work of art /famous painting that you love.

Hope this sparks your artful fire!

Maybe a still life? But composed of odd objects? Like a TV remote, bottle of shampoo and a few steel nails...or a still life of odd items within the same color scheme...

I am an artist and whenever I cant think of inspiration I just think of something that makes me mad. That way there is passion behind your paintings.
