My step daughter has been living with her dad me for 10 years. He got legal custody of her and her older sister just before we got married. The reason for this was that when they were only babies he and their mother got divorced but she origianlly had custody, but she left them with their dad and didn't come back to get them. She would stay gone for months without any contact with her kids. She was known to use drugs and have many boyfriends that beat her. She got remarried to a man that also used drugs and they always fought. We latter found out that when she did come get the kids to spend some time with her, the man she married was sexually abuseingthe kids. After a judge granted their dad legal custody and ordered her to pay child support she tried to get them back. She took the side of her husband and said the kids were lying. She had court awarded visitation and everytime the kids went to visit we would have to go find them because she would not bring them home.

Then about 5 years ago their dad decided just not to let them go. We couldn't afford anymore legal fees. She is back again tring to see the youngest child who don't want to see her. She is still useing drugs and jumping around from man to man. She also owes 30,000 in child support. What can we do to keep this child from being exposed to her way of life?

Don't let her see them. period
If she wants to see them bad enough she'll get a lawyer
If I were your husband I'd go to legal aid and talk to them about it.
Have him get and keep the name and business card of the atty. he talks to.
If he discusses his case with legal aid his ex can't use them because they have already heard about the case from him and that's a conflict of interest. She'll have to pay for an atty.
I would also contact child support enforcement, about her back support. They should put her in jail for that much over.

Hope this helps,

If the child does not want to see the mother you can not force the child to do so. The CHILD needs to go into court and say so the child needs to speak with the judge otherwise the court ordered visitation can not be changed.

Proving a mother unfit is just that. You have to bring proof. Pictures, video or something that will prove that not only she is bad, but that her behavior is actually harming the children. I have been through this for 6 years. My ex wife actually had to go to prison for me to get the children away form her completely. It is my hope that when they let her out that I will not be forced to move back to where she lives so she can visit the kids.

Set up supervised visitation thru the court and have her drug tested thru a court order as a stipulation of the visitation. When she turns up with dirty ua's then make her jump thru hoops, she will probably back off or completely leave.

certainly, you would be able to desire to have documentation of all the certainly circumstances the place she is being an undeserving determine. Adultery won't fall decrease than that classification, however the lack of ability of residency, interest, money etc may well be adequate. in case you rather need to combat grimy, rat her out to the "buddy" she's screwing over, she could desire to in all probability cough up some greater airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dust. yet be useful in case you have information of her infidelities you record them besides. She's no longer serving as a in charge place form, and that could play a ingredient besides.

That's horrible, I would ask your attorney to find out what you can do legally without crossing any bounds. Good luck.

Keep records.
Drug use is illegal so involve your local police.
If you suspect abuse involve their doctor or your local emergency room.
