The myth is if hippos sweat blood not whether they sweat in general.
Hippos do sweat and it is a reddish color.
There are two pigments which give it this color. A red and an orange pigment which are some type of crazy named acids which acts like an antibacterial sunblock and give the appearance of sweating blood when its not the case.
You learned this in 8th grade if you did Biology. Others may be excused.
Don't believe me? Try looking it up in an encyclopedia.
And yeah 'lesroys', writing your source as "3 different game rangers in Africa" doesn't give your theory merit cause as you'll see by my sources..........they are far more superior to yours. Ha Ha

I am a hippo keeper so I can tell you that hippos do not sweat as they have no sweat glands.
Their skin is highly specialised and as a result the hippo needs to spend a large majority of its time in water or a wallow to keep the body temperature constant (as it can not sweat). They only tend to come out onto land at night to graze, when the air is cooler.
The answers you have received telling you their sweat is pink are not correct, however hippos do produce a pink liquid. This is secreted from glands in the skin, and acts as a sunscreen, protects against pollution and infection.
I hope this helps.

I believe hippos do not sweat. They stay submerged in water during the day to keep from drying out. Their hide may look rough, but apparently it is very sensitive.
