If the artist knew that you had reworked the song, then he/she MIGHT get upset, depending on his/her personality. You should probably be prepared for backlash because that is how people are these days. They get upset because they can. A wannabe may also get angry because you are making fun what they know is "wannabe talent" but they seriously do not want to admit their shortcoming.
You might get lucky and get an artist who has a sense of humor. If you want to know, maybe do a bit of research on the artist, or as much as possible, and try to guess their probable reaction.
