Ok, me and my bf have been together almost 4 Years. I am 20 years old. We may be planning to have a child soon but we wanna get a few things in order first. How effective is it to use only spermicides? I hear different things from different places, so I thought I would post here. I don't wanna get on the pill because I heard that it can take awhile when u are ready to conceive. Anyone used the Foam before? Or any spermicide? if so did u get pregnant? or any side effects? Is ejaculation ok if using it?

Spermicide without a diaphragm is about 70-80% effective. With a diaphragm, it's around 94%. Meaning that of 100 women who use the diaphragm correctly, 6 will be pregnant at the end of a year.

If, however, you combine a diaphragm with a condom, I believe you reach over 99% protection - and also will give you good protection against HIV and STDs

The data definitely refers to intercourse that includes ejaculation.
