i know this question has been asked a lot but here it goes anyway;i wrote an essay from an older version of a mac on Word(i think), i sent it to myself to write it on Word, and the file doesnt say what type it is they ask me to encode it i try all of them and its still being dumb...so confuesd i need some real help!!! thnx in advance!

Yeah, macs didnt do extensions did they.. try simply renaming the file from mydocument to mydocument.doc
if you are sure it is a word file. It should then open correctly.

If it wasnt in word off the mac you may have to try .txt .rtf etc until you find the magic combo. Just add the extension to the name first then open it.
