first of all, its based on BOTH parents incomes, and number of children. no matter what the amount, some complain about the amount being too high (even though their truck payment is just as high) for their own children. thats why you hear it.
so tell them...
numbers you want, numbers you get...
you pay what? 400? 600? 900?
ok, lets see...
rent; 1000
electric 300
food 400-600
diapers 75-150 per month (fluctuates when baby is sick or teething)
heat 300
phone/cable 100
auto; (for doctors, dentists, take to school when they miss the bus, pick up when sick, pick up medicines, get food) 200
clothing/shoes/boots 200-400 every 2 to 3 months (seasonal and they grow)
that doesnt even include dental, doctors, glasses, daycare, hair cuts, school supplies, school lunches, school projects, class trips, class pictures, over the counter medicines, prescriptions, laundry det, dish det, cleaners, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, acne medicines, bras, pads, christmas, easter, halloween, tooth fairy, birthdays, etc. and sooo much more.
in my house, the children go through 1 GALLON of milk per day, thats $3.60x30...
almost $100 a MONTH in just milk.
and thats JUST milk alone!!
if you cant grasp the numbers, try calling
1-800- I CANT ADD.
or pay a $5-7 for a box of condoms.

First let me tell you this, my ex is in arrears to the tune of $40,000, for 1 child, who is now 24 years old. He has never been put in jail for this arrearage either and I have never gotten an entire year's worth of child support payments, even though I call the Friend of the Court every month to lodge a formal complaint due to non-payment. Now there is an income withholding order for $92.31 every 2 weeks, but you do the math and make sure you add interest on the unpaid balance like the Friend of the Court does. It will take over 16 years to recoop that money and that is if he never missed anymore payments. Needless to say, when a check is received, great but I don't have this money built into my budget as the payments are too sporadic for me to count on!!
Maybe if this amount of money would have been due to the state rather than me, (if I would have received ADC for example)maybe things would be different as far as payments and finding him...maybe they would have locked him up and made him pay all the back support owed in order to get out of jail...who knows?? I have heard from many different people that their husbands or wives became delinquent in support and the delinquent party got arrested and had to pay the back support in order to get out of jail, but this never happened to the deadbeat father of my daughter.
Oh and by the way, this is Michigan but the deadbeat resides in Texas.

Your extra vulnerable to be a father determine to a newborn you're helping take automobile of, even whether that's only financially.

My husband pays $108/wk for 2 kids. I am supposed to get $200/wk for my 2 kids from my ex but he doesn't pay and is $14000 behind and the law doesn't scare him. But my new husband got a court hearing for being $36 behind in a 9 month period of time. Different county, different priorities. But if I was on welfare, the state would get my ex for sure. Doesnt make any sense.

My ex is court ordered to pay to me $50.00 per month for 2 kids (she is in Prison) . This month I received $1.38. I live in Colorado. I have a friend in NY and she receives $1000 per month for 1 child. Her ex makes close to $100,000 and NY says that no matter how much it takes to raise a child, you will give 17% of your pay for child support.
