I'd like to switch from regular, incandescent light bulbs to spiral-shaped fluorescent light bulbs. However, it says on the package that you are not supposed to put globes over fluorescents, even though fluorescents don't give off as much heat. Why is that?

You can put globes over them with no effect. Just remember that flourescent bulbs do not work with dimmers.

The only thing I can think of is you run the chance of breaking the fluorescent when you install the globes over it.

You can put globes over them with no problem. They save energy and last much longer. The downside is that they slowly get dimmer over time, and some have a short delay when you turn them on.

don't know what they mean by that as i work at condos and have thousands of florecence bulbs installed all with globes over them
