It really depends upon how much of an investment you need. If you're talking millions, you need to find a Venture Capitalist. If you're looking at maybe $100,000 to $1,000,000 (US), you should find an "angel investor." Anything less that than, people usually go to family members, friends, friends or friends, etc., or they go to their bank and apply for a loan of some sort.

Best way is to place an Advertisement in newspaper. Just make sure you have your ducks in a row first. Good Luck !!
