I know the argument, but now gays and straights do have the same rights to marry.

I don't want to pay social security taxes. My neighbor is a teacher and is exempt from Social Security taxes. I want to be exempt as well without becoming a teacher.

A friend of mine is only in the 10% income tax bracket while some people don't pay any taxes! I want to be treated as equally as them.

Sure I could quit my job and be a teacher, or make less income so I receive the same treatment, but that isn't who I am. I wasn't born that way!

So how come I and millions like me are treated differently based on our lifestyle? Shouldn't everyone be in the 28% tax bracket to be fair regardless of your income level?

Tere... Thanks, you got my point. I can be treated as I wish by the gvmt as long as I follow their rules. Gays can get married as long as you follow the rules. I don't like the rules regarding SS or taxes, but I still have to follow them. And I can't change my profession any more than you can change your orentation. I am what I do.

And No, I can't marry who I want. If I could, I would be married to Sandra Bullock!

gays and straights have the same rights, any gay couple can write a will to guarantee inheritance , write powers of attorney to guarantee medical input etc. They have the rights, they just want more , now they want to " educate" our children on how to be gay, if they want to educate someones children, let them breed among themselves and educate their own.

I checked my state to see if they allow gay and lesbian marriage and as far as I know, I can't yet because it didn't pass.
So..uhm...unless, your in CANADA or Massachussettes, then no, everyone as far as STR8 people can marry whoever they want, but gays and lesbians? No.
As far as taxes or some kind of "tax" whatever, what does being married to someone have anything to do with "taxes?"
I work for a percentage bracket, not because I am a lesbian, but because of what they offer me.
You get social security based on if you have that option open. My friend is a lesbian and they offer her a fair amount of Social Security income every month, so I guess I just don't understand what your "implying".

Where are you living? In America, gays and straights do NOT have the same right to marry, and most states don't even have "domestic partner" laws.

And your Social Security analogy is confusing and not really applicable, because your career IS a choice, and you DO have the option to earn less money (and therefore pay less in taxes) if you wish.

No, they don't.
Straight people can marry the person THEY CHOOSE. LGBT people cannot, except in certain states that have banned such state-sponsored discrimination.

You are trying to compare apples to oranges. Usually your questions have much more sound logic, or some at all, as compared to this one.

p.s. I don't have a "lifestyle." I have a life, and a good one, that is not filled with bigotry and hatred. Too bad others can't say the same thing.

You're talking about your tax bracket. We're talking about the people we love. A slight difference.

Absolutely not Take the case of the Knights of Columbus in British Columbia Canada, who were sued bu a Lesbian couple because they refused usage of their facilities because of moral beliefs. The Knights of Columbus offered to pay for new wedding invitations and a new facility. but that was not satisfactory for the Lesbian couple.

YES. Gays and straights have the exact same rights.

These rights were created without consideration of orientation, and until such time as orientation is factored into rights there will be inequality.
