I mean he's just asking for harassment from the fans by saying that. The fans aren't embracing him because of his choke jobs in the playoffs not because they don't think he's a talented player. Maybe if he didn't choke so bad they would embrace him. I think it's sad how he's using that clause in his contract to get fan support.

As far as I know he never threatened to invoke that option. However, New York fans are idiots and they dont realize that he's still one of the greatest players in the game, and has a great chance of being one of the greatest players of all time. Look at his career numbers. It's stupid to say 'maybe if he didn't choke so bad they would embrace him'. Maybe if New York knew how to groom their own talent rather than buy it and demand that it performs well they'd be better off. Look at their lineup the past two seasons, all All Stars, plenty of future Hall of Famers. Theres no reason why they shouldnt be winning WS after WS; but they simply dont have the heart.

I heard that entire interview. He never "threatened" to do anything. As usual, this is being blown way out of proportion.
