Okay, well you can't give my answer any stars, but thanks for trying!
I think you should speak about how local agencies (SPCA, hospital, homeless shelter, soup kitchen) needs volunteers, and how rewarding this would be for your classmates. Speak to the local agencies in advance, to understand the types of things that kids your age can do, and you can share this with the class. My guess is they'd all be glad to hear about ways they can help within the community!
