why do it take some people years to become save,when god promise eternal life?

There are some of us who do not believe in gods and goddesses. We prefer to take our chances with reason and rationality. We know that death is a part of life and are not afraid of it, and do not have a morbid obsession about what happens to us at death.

Possibly because it comes to a point where being 'saved' satisfies an emotional need.
