I was reading answers to past questions about the Gothic Sub-culture, and I have to say.It was pitiful. Im going to provide SOME facts about the Sub-culture Ive chose to be apart of. Goths do not think badly of their lives, infact we embrace it all. Taking the good with the bad. And depression is a clinical illness, which nearly 70% of all Americans suffer from. And cutting is a self made form of relief. And that doesn't isolate Goths to this stereotypical Bastille. Neither are we looking for attention we just dress the way we see fits us. My style of clothing is different from most other Goths I know. We feel that you don't have to wear Old Navy or other popular brands to fit in. And yes most lable themselves Goth because its what society shoves down your throat why fight it? Also some may think the way WE dress isn't normal. Well your definition of normal is different from others. Visit www.vampirefreaks.com to talk to real Goths...Don't get confused between Emo though lol.

After reading both responses so far I see some are too locked away to see the facts listed. It's clear to me you know nothing of anything I've spoken of. It is also clear I am more eloquent in the fact that simple spoken answer are only adding a DeSadenn like attack on something you don't or will never understand.

You say you are going to list "SOME facts" and yet you go on to spout hyperbole. No label fits any one person; be it "goth", "jock", etc... Not all "goths" are depressed nor are they all cutters. Hmmm...I guess after reading that nonsense several times, I still can't seem to find any facts or even a question. Seems to me like someone is definitely trying to get attention.

I'm most picked on because I'm Goth - especially in my town anyway. But this is a campaign because of Sophie Lancaster who was killed because she was Goth (or at least alternative). But some people can take this way out of proportion, especially people in our subculture. And Goth is not just a "fashion statement" it's about having a dark mind, listening to or accepting Goth music as well as numerous other things. It's a lifestyle. Is there a protection act for gays, lesbians and bisexual, too? I'm a bit uncertain about this, although I am pleased at the fact we might be more left alone.

I personally don't think those on vampirefreaks are real goths, but that's my opinion. And opinion is what this is all about. For some, being goth is about a style, for some it is a lifestyle, for others it is a subculture, and there are the occasional purist who keep on saying it was just a marauding group from the fall of Rome. . . those last people annoy me. The point is that goth means different things to different people. Although I agree that the stereotypical Hot Topic teen goth is total crap, even those deeply entrenched within the subculture can argue what its all about. I'm not really disagreeing with what you're saying, but sometimes we have to force ourselves to recognize views that we might not agree with.

lmao I agree with the above answers lol
And I must say that Most the people on vampire freaks that class them selves as goth are only gothic as far as the dress sence though.

Hmmm when you said you were going to list facts I was interested. But, none are found in you verbal diarrhea above.

Its my understanding the to be "goth" is to be counter-culture.

You've fallen party to your own apparent hatred of stereotyping.
