My step-son is divorced for 4 yrs. and has had several girlfriends. He has never introduced his father or me to any of them. He became engaged in December and although we have encouraged him to bring his fiance to family get-togethers, he refuses to bring her. She has learned of this family affairs and questions him why she can't come. I think he has a problem with committment and is in a situation he needs to get out of but doesn't know how. What is your make on this situation? Do you think he needs a reason to brake up with her? And we know she is a "gold-digger" so doesn't want to loose her "sugar Daddy". I know!!! Calling Dr. Phil is my next resort, lol.

Sounds like you are the problem to be honest and he is sparing her from having to deal with people who have judged her as a gold digger never having ever met her.The reason he didnt just jump up and marry any of the other ex g/f's is because after a divorce, some men become really choosey when it comes to making a decision to live with a woman as a wife for the rest of their lives, they want someone they KNOW will be a compatible life partner, friend ,lover etc.I didnt re-marry for 15 yrs after my divorce.Ask your son point blank if he is ashamed of his parents or is he afraid they will make her feel bad in some way.Brace yourselves, you may hear something you dont want to hear and worse, it may be true.

Do you think he thinks she has to do something wrong for him to brake up so he feels stick. I think it's he's problem he a big boy and he needs to learn how to communicate with a women. If someone don't like someone they need to know how to tell the other person hey this is not working out for me. He needs to stop being a little boy who never had experience before, other words he acting like a coward. Dr. Phil going to tell you his a man he needs to tell her. Why doe's a lot of people think when your dating someone your commented to that person. Your not. Dating is to see if you and that person is a healthy match for one other. And trust me not every one you date is going to be a healthy match.

The son is old enough to run his own life. Seems that the father has more "right" to ask him to come to family affairs, not the step-mother. Unless your wallet is affected, leave him alone.
