i went and had a 3 d sonogram done this past saturday ...and when they did it ..my little boy is actually holding his legs and his toes are touching his forehead..and hes laying sideways in my belly...and when i went to the ob on monday she told me by 32 weeks if he doesnt start to move to the head down position they will have to start manually trying to get him that way...so when should the baby have his head down?

Congrats on your sonogram. you got to see the cutest thing. I loved how you explained it i could see it in my mind. Just gave me a awww feeling.

Now as a Doula i will tell you not to worry. As a mom I know you will anyway.

In two weeks he will check to see if your little boy has moved heads down or heading towards it. If not he will gently move him. And then again on your next visits.

Because he has concerns he will spend more time making sure you will not need a C-section. Because he has so many weeks to work with This should relax your mind some.

just what your doctor said. By 32 weeks! The baby has to be in position to come out of the birth canal. If it isn't right before you go into labor this will cause the baby to be in distress. They will give you a test anyhow, but the head usually will turn right before your due date or when the baby comes. If not, then it's C-Section time! Don't worry, it's all normal procedure. I went through that with my kids, and I did end up having them natural. Good Luck!!! w/ the little one!

I had a 3D ultrasound at 28 weeks and my baby was breech with his head up-- his feet were above at head too! I told my doctor, and he said he wouldn't be concerned until I was 36 weeks. Until then the baby is still capable of turning himself. I'm 34 weeks and I go to the doctor tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out if he is still concerned about it. My baby has been moving a LOT, and I have no idea what position he is in anymore. It is highly likely that he will move-- there's still time.

My second child was in a bad position during most of my pregnancy. I was worried about having him turned manually because I heard it's very uncomfortable. I eventually looked into natural therapies. If you can find someone who practices "Bodytalk" they should be able to turn the baby. I was treated by a "Bodytalk" practioner in one session (about 1/2 hour) and he was head down on his own about 3 hrs after the session, and stayed that way for birth. And because my son did the work, there was no pain, no risk to me or the baby, no suppliments or anything else. It really does work and it's worth it to avoid a cesarean.

Usually they don't worry about a baby turning untill more towards the 39 week. My daughter turned to head down at 39 weeks then turned back during labor. So she was breech. Maybe you should consult another doctor. manual turning seems very unnessary and it is painful.

2 weeks is a long time to your baby. He should have his head down by week 32 that's why they're not trying to do something about it right away.

Your baby can toss and turn about all he wants during your preganancy, even in the early part of labor, but by the time he's ready to deliver, he really needs to be in the right place.

Some babies are just too active to stay still!

in the practice i work in the doc wants the head down by 36 weeks. he says that after that the baby is less likely to change position. so if he's breech at 36 he's more likely to stay that way. after that the doc can try version, if you're interested. however, that can also lead to fetal distress and emergent c-section.
