I think it's okay to eat every once in a while. More then twice a week... I would say it's not healthy. I've been nursing for 6 months and I eat fast food maybe once a month if that. What is often to you?

You'd be amazed at how nature makes up for our bad habits. You can look at the links below for reassurance, but the idea is that your milk is healthy for your baby almost no matter what you eat. Your body will take what it needs from you if your diet is lacking. Only in severe cases of malnutrition will the mother's milk be compromised.
Of course, you want to keep a few things in mind. For one, your child will want to eat what you are eating, so if you want to model good eating habits for your child, now's a good time to start. Also, you should probably be taking a prenatal vitamin while you are breastfeeding, if you aren't already. This will help ensure that your body doesn't lose nutrients when your diet is lacking -- your body will find what it needs from you if your diet doesn't have what it needs for your milk. And thirdly, watch your child for signs of discomfort. If you notice that your baby is gassy or seems to have any digestive problems, you might want to cut back or at least stay clear of things like onions and spicy foods. Most babies aren't affected too much by mom's diet, but some are.

Trans Fat does pass through to the breast milk trans fat interferes with the body's use of omega-3 fats essential building blocks for the brain and the eyes a high trans-fat diet during pregnancy or breastfeeding could affect the growth of these organs in the baby. I beleive this is only a serious risk only if you eat trans fat on a daily basis. I think that you will be fine if you eat McDonald's occasionally

I'm not sure if the trans fats pass into breast milk but you may want to cool it on the McDonalds anyway. I'm not saying eating at McD's is bad, but it shouldnt be done very often. I'd say maybe once or twice a month. I used to eat at McD's pretty often also. It didnt make me fat or anything (some people think that people who eat at McD's often are all fat-not true) but I stopped when I had my child. We still eat there every once in a while, but the main reason I stopped is because I want to teach my child good eating habits. Teaching children good habits starts at birth, and teaching by example works.

Well... its not the best thing. But youre doing more harm to your body than to your childs. Even with the SAD (standard american diet) breastmilk is better than formula .
Its best to get your self on a good diet now, before your child starts eating real food... he will want to eat what youre eating and its best to set a good example early on.
