I am giving my computer to my nephew because I am upgrading. I was wondering if there was a way i can copy all my music from windows media and just put it on my new computer, is there a way to do this?
Also, I did all my office work on this computer, i deleted all the files, but i was wondering if there is something else i should do to make sure it is erased for good. I dont want him to see the files i erased. Any ideas? The computer is an hp and has windows xp (if that matters)
thanks

There are software program which will clean your files from a drive, such as drivewiper or drive cleaner. Also, you can use the File and Settings Transfer Wizard to move files from your old computer to your new computer. Or, you can simply burn your files to DVDs or CDs or transfer them to a portable or external hard drive or thumb drive, then clean them with the software program.

Very nice of you to give your older computer to your nephew, we too are giving an older computer, but to my mother in law. We have the same issue, but are using the software programs, intellimover, then cleaning with drivewasher. Both were not overly expensive, but intellimover was the most expensive at about fifty dollars. Drivewasher I picked up at Target for twenty dollars. So, for a price of about seventy dollars I have our files and peace of mind.

Good luck and have a great day!

You can burn all your music files to a external hard drive, or to DVDs or CDs if you have a burner. Then overwrite your hard drive about 7 times and that will take care of all your files left behind. You can use your recovery disk to do this.

Hi. The cleanest way would be to buy a comparable HD for your nephew's machine and swap your old one into your new PC as a slave drive.

you could burn all your music files to CD, and then format the drive and re-install the OS.
