I'm 15 and I really want to get my bellybutton pierced at the beginning of May. My best friend and I really want to do it together. However, I want to know the pros/cons. Any advice? I'm just worried about:
1. The piercing being crooked. [One of my friends got her bellybutton pierced and it turned out crooked.]
2. infections.
3. caring for it afterwards.
I'm a swimmer and so I'll be able to stay out of the chlorine for about a month after it's pierced, but I would really love any advice that anyone has to offer!
Thanks so much!

I can't get it done during the fall because my school's swim season is November-February. And I don't wear belly shirts or anything like that, I'm pretty conservative. I think it would be fun and cute if my friend and I did it together at a reliable, credible place.
And my mom agreed to let me pierce it too, so I'm not going behind her back or anything.

And WHY is everyone saying "don't do it!" What's the reason that I shouldn't do it?

1. Maybe it will be crooked if you dont get it done professionally.
2. If you wash it every day, your chances of infection will be much less.
3. Get some sea salt (at local grocery store, not the regular salt) and mix 1/4 teaspoon with 1 cup of water, and soak a cotton swab or ball and soak the piercing with sea salt water.
dont take out the jewelry for at least 6 to 8 weeks. if you need more help, contact me.

You have to research and find a reputable piercing/tatoo shop. It'll cost more, but it'll be worth it - trust me. Belly button piercings take a notoriously long time healing and almost always become infected. They also get caught really easily on clothes, etc. You have to clean it at least twice a day and you may have to stay out of the pool for more than a month if it gets infected. You may want to find a really nice fake belly button ring instead. Good luck, hon!

well first off-if you go to an actual CREDITABLE piercing shop, there is no reason it should turn out crooked--obv. ur friend didnt! 2. infections are inevitable. it you want to do it then do it...IF YOUR PARENTS LET YOU. but you need to take care of it and if you take it out and let it close you are going to have a stupid looking scar there and if you ever have children its going to get stretched out and look even more stupid. so i'd just say dont get it, or at least wait till ur 18!!

Well honestly,, i had my belly button done and it got infected even though i took really good care of it
Some major things you should know
clean it every day
dont let it sit in water
move in around [like back and forth]
As long as you take care of it you should be fine

Mine did get infected afterwards and I did everything right to care for it.....but it healed and looked great afterwards.
I was going to tell you to have a few drinks beforehand, but since youre 15, just take some Tylenol beforehand. It's not a terribly painful piercing to get!

You should get it done in the fall so it can heal during the winter. If you get it done now you're not gonna be able to show it off because it won't look cute while it's healing.

Don't do it. Its lame, and its not as attractive as plain womans belly with no adornments.
