Because her body mass is to grand for her height.
So the fat accumulates and starts to diminish any signs of creases and curves in the human body. One is the neck. Next we will focus on her cankels.
I personally think she looks like Shrek. but that's me

She looks like a friend of my Mom's who is missing two (or 3) verterbrae in her neck. I wonder if there was some kind of accident resulting in this type of neck injury with Melinda? It drives me nuts that lots of people are saying she is going to win, I just don't think she has the looks. And that is a part of the package - no matter how awful it sounds!

It's really sad that people can find criticism in someone as talented and humble as melinda. It just shows that people really tend to look for the things they can put down in a person rather than recognize what is staring them right in the face like a woman with such a wonderful voice and possess so much humilty as melinda does. it would be so wonderful if everyone can just look at themselves in front of a mirror before they open their mouths to redicule another human being.

Because she's too busy being AWESOME to bother with anything so trivial.
Seriously, I could not love Melinda more if she were dipped in chocolate and hand-delivered. The whole thing, from her OCD to her "Gayles" just makes me love her. Finally, there are REAL women on AI and not cookie cutter air heads.

I dont know of course she has a neck it is just a really small one hope i helped.My mom is a nurse and loves ai so I asked that too.

First of all don't pick on anybody that has a little problem with weight. Second of all she DOES have a NECK and I would suggest you not make another question like that cuz thats so RUDE!!!!!

i guess her voice is better whit out a neck..its juust her neck is really small..but she can sing..i luv her and her voice!!!!!!!
