It's my Senior year in highschool. The year started off great, I was 113 lbs with a great bf (who dumped me on Christmas). I wasn't the most popular but that has never mattered bc I had a few great friends. Suddenly, my friends have decided to distance themselves from me even thoughI've done nothing wrong. My ex bf has been hooking up with a 10th grader I've known since I was 6. I try so hard to get along with everyone but now I have no one...literally. I was recently sick with strep throat and lost weight from being unable to swallow. Since then I've become obsessed with what I eat & workout. I've just been so invisible lately maybe if they notice a change in me my friends will stop ignoring me.
Its getting so hard everyday pretending like everything is fine when I'm awreck. I try to talk to my friends but they haven't listened. I've had no one to hang out with on weekends and I'm going crazy. The more upset I am the less hungry I become. Whats wrong with me?

You seem to be depressed, sweetheart. Is there a counselor at school that you can speak to or even your parents?

You really need to talk to an adult. Not eating isn't going to fix anything and going down to 98 isn't a healthy weight.

You have to love yourself before anyone else can so please take care of yourself. Friends will come and go but you have to deal with your body for the rest of your life.

You are your greatest enemy and friend. You need to realize what is going on in your friends mind. When you place eating above all else, you are not the friend that your friends want. You know what is wrong in your life. Everyone normal knows what is wrong with them, but usually they look for confirmation. I don't know you, so I can't really judge. Whatever you only think or guess is the problem, it is. Try a psychiatrist. But best thing you can do is sort everything out yourself. Facing the problem, no matter how much you don't want to, WILL help you. Do something abut it. Look for what is happy. Find another boyfriend. Find some other friends. Find a career you really enjoy and strive to do everything to get that career. Fill up your free time with fun activities. You should enjoy life now while you're still young. Don't wallow on the past. Create a bright future that isn't like the present. Only you can do that. The sooner you try the better.

You have an eating disorder. Many EDs start with weight loss from being sick, but take on a life of their own later. The fact that you did not lose the weight on purpose initially does not mean anything.

EDs are ALL ABOUT CONTROL. People think they are about wanting to be skinny, but that's just the surface goal. Deep inside it's about exercising control over the one thing you know is entirely within your power. This can seem incredibly important when you feel powerless over the rest of your life.

I strongly recommend you seek treatment for this. Fortunately there is a lot of help out there, much more than there was for me 25 years ago when I had my ED. I have a young friend now who is recovering from anorexia, and she is seeing a pediatrician who specializes in adolescent medicine and eating disorders; a nutritionist; and a therapist. She has turned around very quickly.

Please get help right away. The sooner you are treated, the easier it will be. You do not want to suffer from this for a long time. Trust me.

Are there not other people in your classes who you could hang out with? It might be time to move on from those who are ignoring you. The same goes for a boyfriend--plenty of fish in the sea.

As you said, you have done nothing wrong -- so don't blame yourself for this silly teenage crap your 'friends' are pulling on you. Instead, get a book on positive affirmations from the library--and maybe also on self-esteem/self-confidence.

Don't lose any more weight--get those calories into you, even if it is through drinking things like chocolate milk, juices, protein shakes, etc. between meals.

You are a good person, who has had some rough breaks in your final year of high school. Well, the school year is almost through--so I assume you're planning a vacation or a job for the summer, anyway. Things will work out--just be sure to take care of yourself. :)

This exact same thing happened to me- I'm 12 years old, 5'6", 90 lbs. I started homeschooling recently, and one of my only friends moved to a different state. I got really sick for a week and completely lost my apetite, and since then- it's been a very long time - I just don't feel like eating... I spend all most all my time in my room on Web Design projects and drumming. I don't have anyone to hang out with, but about once a month I go out to coffee shops to listen to the local bands, and I feel a thousand times better.

I think if you found some one new to hang out with, you'd be a lot happier. Don't dump your old friends, still try to work things out-- but if they keep ignroing you, you'll just keep getting worse. Tell them what's going on...

I really hope you can work this out. Good luck, and if you want to talk, you can e-mail me or something.

You're going through mild depression/anxiety. You're right, food is what you can control, and you're doing that, but that's not good. you need to talk to someone, a professional. Ask the school counselor for help, or ask for a school psychologist. Seek help now before its too late.
