The last year that I had my mom and grandmom both, I made a basic cake (vanilla) but made 2 different size round pans with the batter. You put one on top of the other, icing under the top layer to hold it on. Then ice the whole thing. I used white icing, then colored other bits to decorate. If you decorate it, it looks like Mother's Day hat. It's cute!

I always make a white cake with layers of whipped cream and sugar glazed strawberries with fresh strawberries on top

it is yummy and easy
