That's one of my favorite books, well eventually Pip begins to be thankful for the opportunity that Joe gave him. It went from thinking he was a monster, evil, con, to a great father figure even. Once he realizes that he's been the one paying for schooling, trying to give him a better life, he realizes that he's made it possible for him to achieve his ultimate dream of becoming a gentleman.

PS. This is all based on memory, i haven't read the book in a while.

Pip basically becomes a snob, when he comes into money.
