I bought a ring for my boyfriend. When somebody asks about it I always say how much it cost when it is unneccessary. Is that wrong? He feels that I'm bragging, but I feel that I'm only expressing that I care about him enough to spend that much money. Is that wrong for me to tell others how much I spent on it?

It is tacky and inappropriate to bring up the price.
On the TV show Martin he bought Gina a very expensive ring and would not let her forget it !!(how much it cost) but still neither one of them every mentioned the price in any episodes that would have been tacky.

It's considered unethical to talk about how much an item costs unless politely asked. Even when asked, one has to gauge the interest of the person asking: is it just plain curiosity (this one gets an evasive answer) or genuine interest for some reason or other (this one gets a ball park figure).

very tacky. Sometimes we show people that we love them by doing things for them...not just spending money on them. The people you are telling this to are thinking you are trying too hard and that you are trying to buy his love...which means that you will end up getting a divorce. Show people that you love him by speaking kindly and doing things for him instead of focusing on a dumb ring.

Part of a gift is how difficult it was to provide. However, next time, instead of naming a price, just say something like, "I spared no expense, because he's worth so much to me." They'll especially like it if they are "Jurassic Park" fans.

Not wrong, but it is not needed. Some people might think you are showing off, being phony. I know you are just bubbling with pride, but everyone does not know how to accept that. Do not worry about what they think, be happy!!

If bragging is right, then you should tell everyone how much it costs. In other words, you're bragging.

Yes.. it is wrong.. you should like you are telling everyone how much it cost to BUY your man. It makes him feel cheap as if you are belittling his manhood.. I would stop if I were you.

It may not be wrong. It's immature. You bought it so you can brag about it? That IS what you are doing.

Yes, that's tacky. Instead tell them how you especially chose the finish, or metal, or design because you knew how much it would suit him.

It's very tacky! It would be equally tacky if someone ask how much it cost.
