If bought in the US I don't think you will get a good price. At least here in continental Europe you can find reasonably priced (even cheap) tours of Egypt.

Although the people at the stores can be rather annoying and pushy, a tour of Egypt is one of the best things of the ancient world. I know, been there twice and want to go back.

Since you too are interested in the ancient Egypt, I recommend a Nile cruise. There are good packages of 1 week in which you spend some 3-4 days on the boat and stop and historical sites.

Among places of interest are: Luxor for the temple of Luxor and temple of Karnak, then across the Nile from Luxor to visit the Temple of Hatschepsut, The Valley of the Kings and sometimes you are taken to other places.

On the cruise you will stop on several places along the Nile (the view is spectacular, just awesome) such as Kom Ombo to name just one.

At the other end of the cruise there is Aswan on the south for a visit to the Aswan dam, the Obelisk, Philae temple if I remember correctly. If you have some extra money take the side trip (by plane) to Abu Simbel, this you MUST see.

If you have time go to Cairo and visit the Medina (didn't have time for that one), the Mosque, the awesome Cairo museum and across the Nile to the pyramids of Gizeh. There are some other pyramids in Egypt but these are the best known and most spectacular.
