I think my baby (11 week old boy) might have reflux. He fuses when he nurses and afterwards sometimes doesn't like being laid flat, and then fusses a lot and arches his back and his legs get straight and stiff? And when he cries sometimes it's like a coughing cry, like the beggining of a cough and then a cry over and over? Any help would be appreciated 1st baby!

It could very well be acid reflux...but it could also be something else. My son had acid reflux for the first 3 months. Whenever he was laid down he had to be at a 90 degree angle to keep the acid down. Before we knew this he would wake up crying and sometimes gasping for air like he's choking and he would always spit up his milk. He eventually grew out of it but in the meantime you should take your baby to his pediatrician to get it checked out. If he is suffering from acid reflux the pediatrician will most likely prescribe you medication (they gave my son Zantax) to protect his esophagus from being damaged from the acid coming back up his throat. Get an appt for your baby asap.

Most reflux is a reaction to something... most commonly dairy or soy. You may try eliminating dairy from your diet and see if theres an improvment (i mean ALL dairy... in baked goods, anything that says 'whey', all of it) it may take a couple weeks to see results... but its a thought!

Does he throw up ALOT? My baby has reflux and pukes up almost everything he eats. He is getting better since he has been on prilosec. Your baby sounds like he has alot of gas.
