How's his weight? Is he a good size? That's the key to whether his feeding difficulties are a serious problem.
Why do you think it might be traits of autism? To me it sounds more physical.
Although the gagging does need checking out. Also any worries about him being on the autistic spectrum.. Take him to the docs and don't let them just pass you off as a 'neurotic mother' like they do.. Just keep at it till YOU feel things are OK and YOU understand what's going on- you have that right.

Sorry to hear, you have so much worry. Has the health visitor referred you back through the GP to the paedriatric consultant. Sounds like its a reflux action. Im sure Blooming marvellous used to have something in their catologue that supported the baby, I do know I have seen a "wedge" that was advertised for pregnacy. would something like that work, keeping your son in the recovary position? I would push for the referal, If you have one child with Autism you know you have to be pro-active. If the Health Visitor isnt on the ball chase up the GP. You as Mum know your child the best, I had a "relaxed" Health Visitor. My son was eventually diagnosed with Autistic Tendancies with speech and communication problems.
6 Childrens. Huge Respect, especially when you have special needs to deal with too.

obviously with already having kids u know whats right and wrong, personally i think u should take ur baby to the doctors instead of listening to the midwife as theres obviously something seriously wrong when ur child only takes 3oz of milk at 6 months and gags when laid down and with soft solids, good luck xx

you are entitled to ask for a second opinion from another health visitor, also i would take your son to your GP, just to be on the safe side, my son used to bring back his milk back up through his nose whenever i laid him down, which he would choke on, VERY scary , i propped up his mattress at the top end which seemed to help with the gagging.

I don't understand your question fully, why would you need a special cot?
It sounds like you need some medical attention for your son and should go back to your HV (or even better your doctor) and stipulate that you are not happy with their response.

On sky tv they have a channel called baby channel(no.285) they quite often sell new and unusual products, i'm sure ive seen some sort of cot like a craddle/sling that tilts and rocks.
i cant remember any other details though.

You need to take your son to a GI specialist to evaluate for reflux. Also, they need to do a swallow study because it sounds like maybe he is aspirating. I went through the same thing with my daughter....she got on the right meds and is so much better.
