Dr. Livingston:
Livingstone's heart was buried under a Mvula tree near the spot where he died, now the site of the Livingstone Memorial.
Henry Morton Stanley, who had been sent in a publicity stunt to find him by the New York Herald newspaper in 1869, found Livingstone in the town of Ujiji, on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, in October 1871. Stanley joined Livingstone, and together they continued exploring the north end of the Tanganyika (the other constituent of the present Tanzania), until Stanley left in March the next year.

it wasn't invented, more like discovered. go to the link below, it has all your answers. i don't believe there is one person or institution who gets credit for the "discovery". surely, people from way back when had been having this problem with no clue what to do. discovery comes in the progression of the disease, the treatments, and such.

As for silverbirch’s answer, ehem, it’s infarction, not infarcation (myocardial infarction is the medical term for it). Thank you.
