I don't know about audio books, but this page has many German classics online for free:

They are all texts where the copyright has run out, so it's perfectly legal. :)

Project Gutenberg is great, but if you have a Kindle and love the automatic delivery, you'll find that Amazon has many free German ebooks as well, both classics and contemporary literature. Especially the latter can be hard to find (if you're not based in Germany) but this post here has some solid instructions:
