"Gay agenda"?
Does that mean homosexuality was not touched upon in a human sexuality or "sex ed" course?
Given that many homosexual teenagers commit suicide because they have no understanding or support - I'd think that having it in the curriculum would be deemed rather important and shouldn't be provided on an "opt out" basis.
If parents are bothered by it - perhaps their children aren't quite ready for public school - it is a fact of population and shouldn't be left out because of bigotry or "moral self-righteousness". Since when do people feel the "right" to dictate to others on such a personal level?
Homosexuality is not a moral choice.
(I've never sought sanction from "the group" for any sexual act I've engaged in - you?)

In Abbotsford BC Canada the school board has found a way to deal with the "Corren Agreement" while protecting the moral sanctity of the students, in response to the " corren agreement" they have created a " diversity training class" in grade 12 , the class is an elective and does not have to be attended by anyone who finds its content offensive. Many other school boards are following this example because it follows the letter of the " Corren Agreement" without offending the moral sensibilities of any other parents.

sure, that's people who're left in public faculties that lose. i'm a fifty six twelve months previous these days retired elem instructor. some years in the past, like in 1970's while i replaced into in college, they predicted that the generic public college device might crumple by way of the twelve months 2000. i'm undecided merely what could desire to ensue, yet some thing certainly needs to alter. i might say off the acceptable of my head, the generic public college device desires a thorough make over. as long because it is not income orientated, like Walmart, for then they gained't care if the youngsters learn, they'll in basic terms intend to make money. there is plenty politics that is going on that fogeys have no clue approximately. All mothers and fathers are "undesirable mothers and fathers" in the event that they do no longer bypass to their youngster's college a minimum of one hour each and each twelve months and take a seat via the class, because of the fact your tooth might fall out in case you rather knew what is going on. once you're making costly purchases, do you gain this devoid of plenty study ? How effective are your infants ??? they spend maximum of their day, commonly a minimum of 6 hours exposure on the school. i'm no longer against public college, yet you're perfect that the present options choose extensive fixing. and that i think of it is going to in basic terms come while mothers and fathers unite and insist some thing instead of accepting the lip provider you have become from the school admin and state ed dept. particularly a sturdy opinion, no ? yet i like infants and opt for the perfect for all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are getting so so short replaced.

I think that a parent should be able to opt out of a program that is being created to spread awareness of the Homosexual lifestyle. I understand that many people are against the lifestyle of homosexuals, but i really think that this is something that students need to learn about to build up tolerance.
Now a days, there are so many hate crimes going on, that it is important for people to understand that not everyone they meet is going to be exactly like them and will not share the same beliefs. I believe that people should start teaching these "facts of life" at a younger age.

You talk about a “gay agenda course”, yet none of the gays on here have a clue what you’re talking about.
You say "a homosexual teacher… etc", yet in your other replies you say ““Gay people are not Gay”. I don’t mean to be rude, but I just can’t follow any of your questions/answers, they all contradict each other. I also find it amusing that you hate gays (the ones that aren’t real to you) and yet every one of your questions and answers is gay related. You will acknowledge sex acts, but not sexuality. There’s a good reason for that and I think we both know what that reason is.

Yes, as you said, in a free and democratic society. Straights have as much right as gays and if they don't want the curriculum what's to hold them back? They have freedom of choice to pick the school they prefer for their kids since they are the one paying.

Yes, a parent may opt out but because education is mandatory they must enroll their child in another school or have an approved home-schooling program for their child.

So what you are advocating is allowing parents to "opt out" of respecting and celebrating diversity, and to "opt into" bigotry and prejudice? No thanks.
However, I don't think such a thing should be legislated. If the public school teaches classes that value diversity, and presents all religions as equal and subjects to be studied, and the parents don't like this, they can home-school their tots in their hatreds. Just don't expect me to pay one penny towards this.

I think instead of this class...a class about Tolerance period should be included as mandatory curriculum in all schools. I don't think that people should be forced to study anything that goes against their beliefs. But TOLERANCE should be everyones belief

I sense that you're not giving us enough information here. Can you provide a link that gives us the FULL story? Otherwise, I'm lead to believe your question is inconclusive, biased and has an agenda of its own.
