Thats...weird...but if you must have an answer, I will first of all ask how did the horse die? If it was from a disease, eating its meat will give you the chance of contracting the disease as well. There is probably a way to kill the disease, but im not entirely sure how. Yes, you are defenatly saving money, but think about your daughter. Using it as food after it died will probably hurt her more than when the horse actually died. If you absolutely must use the horse as food, I guess its alright as long as you prepair it the right way. I personally wouldnt even if I werent eating it. Mostly because when I look at an animal, even if its dead, I dont view it as a food source. Do what you must, but make sure you daughter is oblivious to what you are doing.

a) It is not a good idea to let your dog have the meat because the horse was no properly killed and did not have the blood drained promptly after-- Horses and cows etc.. that die of natural causes are not supposed to be eaten, its not safe or healthy: as of now the horse is dead and its body is starting to decay...not a good idea.
b) I dont think it is a good idea for your daughter to even have this idea in her head, or to even hear or see anything about her DEAD HORSES meat being fed to your dog!!! I love my horse so much and that would really upset me, and possibly traumatize me. You should really help your daughter cope with her horses loss by being good parents and giving the horse a proper burial, not feeding it to the dog. I understand where you are coming from, but being a huge horse person i know what your daughter is going through-- you probably dont understand what it is like to love and lose a horse. The bond between horses and humans is like no other, you would have to experience it to understand it.... =) R.I.P Dale.

You need to do something pretty quick before the meat goes bad. I assume you haven't gutted the animal yet. If the temperature is still cold enough you may be all right. I would contact a butcher or someone who knows what he is doing to come and cut up the animal and package it for you.
This process will probably take a day or so if he does it in his spare time. Maybe you and the family could go away for about three days.

I would suggest not feeding your dog this horse meat, (not that horse meat is not an acceptable canine feed) for the following reasons:
1. You did not state why the horse died
2. Changing a your dog's diet from kibble to raw without the proper supplements will endanger you dog's health.
3. You would endanger your health due to bacteria contained in raw meat.
I could go on, but I believe I have addressed the main issues.

That is so mean, think about how you would feel if you knew your parents were gonna cut up your beloved pet into little tiny dog food peices?! You odviously don't understand that your daughter LOVES this horse & probably would die for him as everyother pet owner would for their pet! YOU ARE CHEAP! Just because you have a little bit of a financial problem you are going to cut up your daughters BEST FRIEND! My mom & dad both have problems financially but they would NEVER do anything like that they know would hurt me if I knew!

I can't tell you who to contact in regards to your horse meat, but have you thought about the ramifications this would have on your daughter? You must be prepared to keep this from her your whole lives, b/c even if you tell her years later, it would have a lasting impact. She might resent you for how "cold-hearted" you were with her beloved pet. Just a thought from a girl who never got to say good-bye to her cocker spaniel because her mom made her take a nap instead of giving the dog one last hug before she was "put to sleep." I remember it 20 years later.

I am hoping this is a joke because if not your daughter will need therapy until she 80 and your dog better watch out because if it dies you might want to use him/her for a week worth of meat.
