If your pully has a keyway slot and a key, you can use a pully puller. That hooks over the edges of the pully and a screw in the center pushes against the shaft. Soak with a good penetrating oil like Blaster before trying that. You can also try a brass drift to tap on the shaft to loosen. Make sure you don't use a steel drift or you will mushroom the end of the shaft and will never get the pully off.

Small Engine Pulley Puller

CAREFULLY
You need to apply equal pressure to both sides of the pulley.
You can buy a pulley puller that grabs and pulls both sides of the pulley while pushing down on the end of the shaft. You simply turn the handle and the pulley comes up. (I would suggest spraying a little WD-40 on it first)

If you do not want to buy the puller.....you can lever both sides with long screwdrivers....but, beware that you don't break the pulley or bend the shaft. Might be worth the cost of the puller.

i visit think of which you're speaking some driving mower. there's a bolt straight away up interior the direction of the middle of the pulley that threads into the crankshaft. With that bolt out the pulley will slide off the shaft. you will possibly be able to might desire to cajole the pulley that it desires to come again off yet with the bolt out basically rust is retaining it on.

The stack pulley on the engine is simple..... one bolt, remove that, and yank downwards to pull it off.... but if it has some rust between the shaft and the crank, its gonna be harder to do so...

The trans, usually have a clip... but that will more then likely need to have a puller to take it off.

these guys are right BUT lacking in their answers!! 1st check to see that nothing is holding the pulley on!! like a set screw in the pulley groove etc,, or mayby it just needs penetrating oil and a good tapping around or on the shaft with a board etc,,not too much to bend anything, just enough to shake it lose! then call in the pulley removers
