I heard these girls using it at school today. Is this an insult or has anything to do with gay people? Is it something American? (I'm from Aberdeen)

Gaydar is commonly used amongst the lesbian and gay community, and it refers to the so-called ability to determine whether or not someone is gay or bisexual. It's not 100% fool proof, BUT i happen to be very good at it. Im usually right about someones sexuality 8 times out of ten after being around them for a few minutes.

Having gaydar is when you are able to tell is someone is gay or not.
