It could be the stapes in your inner ear but it might be the hyoid which is in your throat. This bone often gets broken in manual strangulation or hanging.

our middle ear consist of three bones mallus, incus and stapes. In which, the smallest one is 'STAPES' lies in tympanic cavity and before fonastra ovalis.
