It is mulch that is made from no toxic materials and contains no active bacteria or live spores or insects upon application;.

For example, ground tires were used a few years ago in childs playgrounds, they contain toxic materials so they are not now used. Pulverized concrete dusts and the inhaling of concrete dust is toxic to small childeren, so that is not used.

I would check and see just what kind of a mulch my child was playing in, Its not so much that it is sterilized, its that dust factor that is very bad for a youngster upon inhaling when the mulch dries out and childeren stop around and play.

It's mulch that has been super-heated to kill spores and bacteria that could make little 'uns sick.
